Landlords can transfer their tenancy to another landlord using Bond Hub.
You can transfer a tenancy from one landlord to another in Bond Hub. This can happen when a landlord goes overseas, a property is sold, or ownership changes and all tenants want to continue the tenancy.
If you are a landlord and have not registered for Bond Hub, you must register first.
Before you start
Either the current (departing) landlord or the new (incoming) landlord can start this request.
If you are using integrated Property Management Software please contact your vendor to find out how to do change of landlord requests in your system.
Make sure you have:
- A Bond Hub login
- The other landlord’s name (or company name)
- The other landlord’s email address
- The bond number (if you are the incoming landlord)
Let the other landlord know they will get an email and must respond within 12 days. They will be sent reminders if they don’t respond in time.
Steps to change a landlord
- Log in to Bond Hub.
- Go to Change of Landlord requests and select Change of Landlord.
- Select whether you are the departing or incoming landlord.
If you are the departing landlord, choose the tenancy address.
- Select the bond number for that tenancy.
- Enter the date the tenancy will transfer.
- Enter the incoming landlord’s details.
- Review the information and submit your request.
- Both landlords will receive an email notification.
If you are the incoming landlord, search the tenancy address.
- Enter the bond number, it will look like BN-12345678.
- Enter the date the tenancy will transfer.
- Enter the departing landlord’s details.
- Review the information and submit your request.
- Both landlords will receive an email notification.
What happens next
The other landlord must respond to the request.
They need to:
- Log in to Bond Hub (or register if needed)
- Click the link in their notification
- Enter the email address the link was sent to and the bond number.
They will see a summary of the request and can choose to:
- Agree – the tenancy is transferred to the new (incoming) landlord.
- Disagree – the request is cancelled, and you will need to submit a new one.
- Both landlords (departing and incoming) will receive a notification confirming whether the change has successfully completed.
