From 29 June 2026, bond management will be faster, more transparent, and easier for landlords, property managers and tenants.
What is changing
More bond tasks will move to online self-service through Bond Hub and connected property management software.
Lodgements, top-ups and some bond refunds (if you use connected property management software) are already online. Change of tenant or landlord, and bond refunds in Bond Hub will be available from 29 June 2026. Tenants will also be able to opt in to receive text (SMS) messages.
This means:
- paper forms will no longer be accepted – landlords and property managers must use Bond Hub or connected property management software.
- faster processing and fewer delays
- clearer updates on what is happening with your bond
- an easier, more transparent process for everyone.
Tenants will be able to respond to bond requests online and update their contact details, including opt in to receive text (SMS) messages, and landlords will be able to submit and track requests digitally.
What tenants should do now
To get ready, tenants should:
- make sure their contact details and email address are up to date
- keep their tenant number in a safe place
- be ready to respond to bond requests online.
What landlords and property managers should do now:
To prepare for the changes, landlords and property managers should:
- register to use Bond Hub if you have not, or consider using connected property management software
- if you use connected property management software, start using the bond refund functionality now to start reaping the benefits of a quicker process
- talk to your property management software vendor if you do not have access to refunds yet
- think about how a digital process might change how you communicate with tenants about bond refunds and when there are tenant changes
- make sure your tenant contact details are up to date
- share information about the changes with your tenants.
