We are gradually moving our tenancy bond services online. You can prepare for these changes by making sure your information with Tenancy Services is up to date.
We are making changes to our tenancy bond services to make bond transactions more efficient. These changes include the ability to lodge bonds and pay these online. Future updates will also increase the range of available online services related to bonds.
Improving our tenancy bond service
Bond Hub (our online self-service tool) and some property management software send bond notifications via email using Tenancy Services records.
If we do not have your correct email address, these systems will not be able to reach you. Instead, we will communicate with you via post. This will result in slower processing that does not include benefits from our updated systems.
If you are a landlord or tenant, you can make sure to receive bond notifications by ensuring your email address is up to date with us.
How to update your email address
You can make sure your email address is up to date by emailing Tenancy Services with your:
- full name
- tenancy address
- mobile phone number
- email address
- bond number (if known).
Email: Bonddetailsupdate@mbie.govt.nz
If you cannot email, contact us.
Your address, phone number and name are needed to make sure we add your details to the right tenancy in our system. Only include your bond number if you know it.
Your email will be stored securely and used only for tenancy-related communications. See our privacy statement for more information.
This is part of a wider upgrade to make bond transactions more transparent and efficient for tenants, landlords, and property managers.
Check your spam or junk mail folders
Sometimes our system notifications may be redirected to your spam or junk mail folder. You should check this folder regularly for any notifications you may have missed.
You can also whitelist emails from the following domains to make sure our email notifications will arrive in your inbox:
- mbie.govt.nz
- tenancy.govt.nz
