If your fixed term started on or after 11 February 2021 and ended on or before 30 April 2025, you would have needed to give appropriate notice in accordance with the requirements prior to the 2024 changes to end the fixed term tenancy. If the tenancy became periodic, the current rules apply.

Ending a fixed-term tenancy
You cannot give notice to end a fixed-term tenancy early unless under certain circumstances. There are options available if both landlords and tenants want to end a fixed-term tenancy early.
Serving notice to end a tenancy
If you are a landlord or tenant serving notice to end a tenancy to the other party, you can serve the notice to their electronic address or PO box if it is provided.
Ending a periodic tenancy
A landlord or tenant must give the appropriate notice to end a periodic tenancy.
When notice can be given
Notice to end a periodic tenancy can be given on any day of any week, to end the tenancy on any day of any week. Notice to end a periodic tenancy can be given at any time after the tenancy agreement has been signed - even if the tenancy has not yet started.
The day of the week that the tenancy ends on does not have to match the day of the week the tenancy began on. It also does not need to match the day of the week the rent is normally paid on.
