Leave the property clean and tidy, and pay any bills

Tenants need to remove all rubbish and leave the property reasonably clean and tidy. If possible, attend the final inspection with your landlord and take photos to help record the property's condition. Make sure any outstanding rent and other bills are paid and arrange for utilities and services to end or transfer when your tenancy finishes.

Agree on the bond refund early if you can

Before requesting a bond refund online, landlords and tenants should discuss and agree on how the bond will be refunded. This can help avoid delays and make the process quicker for everyone.

Be ready to use the digital bond service

Landlords should make sure they are registered to use the digital bond service through Bond Hub or connected property management software. Tenants should keep their tenant number handy so they can respond to bond requests and receive their bond refund faster.
