From 1 December 2025, new rules about pets will take effect. These changes were signalled last year. The Government has now confirmed the start date to help the sector prepare.
The changes aim to make it easier for renters to keep pets, while giving landlords added protection.
Historically, landlords have been hesitant to allow pets due to concerns about property damage and limited options for recovering costs. The upcoming changes aim to strike a better balance between tenant flexibility and landlord security.
