Mediator – Casual hours

The Department is currently seeking a casual Mediator to support our services in and around the Hamilton area. As there are currently 85 mediation service locations throughout the Central Region the casual mediator may be required to travel across the country to deliver this service.
The role will be carrying out the statutory role required by the Residential Tenancies Act 1986 and other relevant legislation in the mediation of disputes between landlord and tenants.
This involves providing advice on the obligations and responsibilities of landlord and tenant and also participating in educational, public relations programmes relating to residential tenancy and wider department issues
Ideally you will have previous mediation experience and/or the theory and practice of mediation and other models of dispute resolution. You will also have excellent verbal and written English skills along with god levels of emotional intelligence and enthusiasm. A good knowledge of Te Reo me nga Tikanga Māori would be an advantage.
