Consultation on the Retirement Villages Code of Practice 2008
The Retirement Villages Act 2003 (‘the Act’) requires a Code of Practice that sets out the minimum standards that all retirement village operators in New Zealand must meet. The minimum standards will also form the basis of the contract between the operators and residents.
The consultation on the proposed Retirement Villages Code of Practice 2008 is now closed.
However, the proposed Retirement Villages Code of Practice 2008 and Regulatory Impact Statement are still available to view:
The Department of Building and Housing is currently completing its analysis of submissions received about the proposed Code and will report to the Minister for Building and Construction shortly. The Minister will decide whether to accept or reject the Retirement Villages Code of Practice 2008. Following the Minister’s decision, the Department will publish its analysis of submissions.
